An Ode to Family

Yesterday morning Karmen and I got back from a two week visit in Saskatchewan. It was so nice to spend some time with our Saskatchewan family and hear about and see what they are all up to. Each of my siblings is busy with or soon to be busy with parenting and my parents are busy grandparenting. Having little kids around has brought an entirely different dynamic into the family; wonderful but different. We no longer have time to play games and much of our time is spent chasing around Jett and admiring/holding/passing around  baby Kalena and baby Lucy. Sometimes it feels hard for us because we are at a different stage of life than everyone else and we miss out on so many family times throughout the year. However, we always enjoy our bi-annual (give or take a visit each year) visits and feel so loved and supported by each member of the family. Maybe one day in the future we will stick around for a year or two...

Highlights from the trip included:
Spending time at Braden and Carrie's new house in Dalmeny and meeting our beautiful niece Lucy!
Playing many rounds of nil (a trump card game) with mom and dad; we decided to let them win this visit!
Spending a day with Tim and Sherry involving delicious cake, Settlers of Catan and horseshoes!
Going up to Wendy and Mitch's trailer at Candle Lake: swimming, games, great food, niece and nephew!
The few times we all got together for a while, Dad's B-day, family photo day and our 'last supper' all together for a year.

As much as leaving is hard, it is easier knowing that we have family 100% behind us! We love each of them dearly!

The other cool thing is that all this support only represents one side of the family. We also have a wonderful family in BC that we get to spend the next week and a half with before we are off to Korea!
