What we've been up to....

So I just wanted to give y'all a quick glimpse into what we've been up the last week or so...

15th Birthday Girl

Last Saturday we got to attend a Quinceañera (a 15th birthday party for girls). In Mexico, a girl's 15th birthday is a huge celebration. It started with a church service (I got to play guitar for the worship time). At this service, the girl makes a strong commitment to serving the Lord with her life. Afterward, the church and the family make their way to a party event location and celebrate the night away. The girl gets decked out in a princess dress, performs several fun dances with her entourage (a group of young men who are chosen to support her during the day) and in this case she gave us a karate routine as well. We ate a wonderful supper and spent time awkwardly trying to look cool on the dance floor. It was a fun way to celebrate the life of this young women.


On Tuesday, we celebrated our 2nd anniversary. We went for a nice walk in Colomos Park which was kind of like a safe haven for us during our internship here. Afterwards, we went out to the movie Snow White and the Huntsman at a VIP movie theater (the seats are leather recliners and you pre-order your food and they bring it out to you during the movie). Following the movie we went out to Chili's for a nice burger supper...it was the closest thing to White Spot we could get here!
