What we've been up to...cont'd

On Wednesday, we got to visit with Karmen's host family. First we went for lunch at Anna's, a dear friend of Karmen's from her church here. Anna likes becoming the mom of all foreigners who spend any time in her community. After we got to go to the house she lived in for about 7 months and visit with her host family. We were especially excited to see Raquel and her two kids. Karmen spent a lot of her time cooking with, visiting with, laughing with and learning Spanish with this precious family. The younger child, Karla, was just learning to walk when we left the first time, now she is quite the talkative, cute little girl. Jonathan is the same mischievous boy but definitely more grown up. Raquel is very preganant, expecting their third child in a couple months.

On Thursday evening Karmen and I went to a prayer meeting at Casa de Paz. I gave a reflection on Isaiah 6 and Karmen shared something she had been learning this past year. We also got to see a few others families we hadn't seen yet that were good friends during our internship. At the end of the prayer meeting I surprised Karmen with an anniversary cake that we shared with the church. Mexicans love any excuse to eat cake!
