So we have been in Saskatchewan for a little over a week now and we have thoroughly enjoyed our time with family. We have been truly blessed with such a wonderful and supportive family!
In 2010, Jett Jaxon Schultz was born in April and in July, Karmen and I got married. Being as I was the last of my siblings to get married, Karmen completed the adult portion of our immediate family. Jett was the first grandchild and nephew to be born. We loved being able to snuggle with and hold our new nephew. Now we can barely keep up with him.
In 2012, Kalena Jane Schultz was born in March and Lucy Kate Olynick was born in June and there will be a third baby born this November to my brother and sister-in-law. So far Karmen and I are the only siblings in the family who haven't boarded the baby train. This visit we have thoroughly enjoyed snuggling, holding and doting on our new nieces and playing with our very energetic nephew (oh ya and we have enjoyed seeing and visiting with the rest of the family too).
Here are 5 reasons why we love being an Uncle and Aunt and don't feel quite ready to have a baby of our own....
5) When we are snuggling and the baby fills her diaper, we can pass her off to her mommy or daddy.
4) In the evening after a wonderful day of snuggles, we can give the baby back to her parents and sleep the night away undisturbed.
3) When the baby won't stop crying and we don't know what to do, we can pass her back to her parents to figure out the issue.
2) If we want to go out to a movie or stay out late with friends, this is a viable and responsible option any day of the week.
1) If we want to travel the world and go on a crazy adventure, we feel we have full freedom to do so.
We wouldn't be a very good Uncle and Aunt if we didn't show off our nephew and nieces with a few photos...
All that to say, we love our nephew and nieces and it makes us sad to think we miss out on so much of their growing up. Thank goodness for facebook and skype and ways to communicate.
