Today is the day. We have been talking about the possibility of this day for about seven months. Now, resumes completed, several interviews passed, multiple trips to the Consulate in Vancouver and a week worth of packing, and we are off to South Korea.
This day is filled with many emotions: excitement - at the chance to see more of the world and at a new, unique job opportunity, nervousness - due to all the unknowns we won't know about until we get there, sadness - thinking of all the family and friends we won't see for a year and love dearly and contentment - the knowledge that the women I married and love is by my side as this new adventure begins.
Travelling days are rarely fun and almost always long and exhausting. And so it begins...another hour of waiting in the Vancouver airport, a quick flight over to Seattle, six hours of waiting in the Seattle airport, an 11.5 hour flight to Seoul, Korea, an hour-ish bus ride to where our taxi will pick us up, a taxi ride (unsure of how long) to the school we will be teaching at and finally getting dropped off at our new apartment...our new home. So let's hope our luggage gets there, our flights remain on time, everyone picks us up and meets us who is supposed to and that we make it to our apartment with energy to spare...or at least enough to set our bags down, put sheets on the bed and collapse. We will try and post within a few days of arrival, after we figure out an internet set-up, after we are sleeping at night again not during the day and after we have first impressions to tell about.
