Hosting Parents Part 2

A few days after Greg's parents flew back to Canada, my (Karmen) parents came to Korea. They had a short layover in Seoul before another flight to Beijing, China. We met up with them again a few days later to bring them back to our apartment. We had ten wonderful days with Mom and Dad Rennert. We took them to see some old things and they braved the adventure of trying to find some new things to see with us.

Our first day together took us up a local mountain to see a temple and to the zoo at Seoul Grand Park.

We spent a day biking along the Han River, checking out a South Korean military exhibit and (the craziest idea ever) braving the millions to watch fireworks on Yeouido Island.

The next day we toured Namsan Mountain and North Seoul Tower. We declared our undying love by clipping locks to the gates. We watched some cultural displays. We ate duk galbi in Myeongdong and dipped our tired feet into a tank of "Dr. Fish".

We showed off our English classes.

We hung around in Gangnam. We went to Bongeunsa Temple and Seonjeongneung Royal Tombs. Greg and Dad went for a round of screen golf and Mom and I toured the underground shopping center looking for the perfect pair of socks.

We took an early morning ride on the KTX, the high speed train, and spent the afternoon at the Korean Folk Village.

On their final day in Korea, we went to cheer on Greg as he played a victorious game of ball hockey in Seoul.

There were a few days here and there where we went to work and they bravely explored by themselves. We enjoyed coming home to smiling faces and a snack all ready for us!

We are so glad to be able to share our life here in Korea with those we love in Canada!
