O Canada

We recently were able to go on a three week vacation to Canada, splitting our time between British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

Some of the refreshing things about returning to our home and native land: being able to feel like a competent and functioning adult (we could confidently order in restaurants and carry on friendly chit-chat with anyone), enjoying the beautiful starry nights (Karmen even saw the Northern Lights for the first time ever), living in a climate that cools down at night and reconnecting with our beloved families and friends.

We had decided on our trip back that we would avoid rice at all costs and get our fill of the fine Canadian cuisine we craved. Some of the food highlights included: all food cooked on an outdoor barbeque (steak, burgers, chicken), White Spot hamburgers, Tim Horton's lunches and iced cappuccinos, pie iron sandwiches cooked over a campfire and so many fresh berries and vegetables!

Other highlights included: being  part of one of my best friends weddings in Langley, an afternoon of relaxing at Crescent Beach with family , reconnecting with Emmanuel church and our dear friends in Abbotsford, camping in SK, getting together for a wiener roast with close family friends in SK and spending a lot of time with our SK family (parents, siblings, nephew and nieces). It was a lot of fun seeing our nephew and nieces again and meeting our youngest niece. They sure change a lot in a year.

All in all, it was a great time, although as usual just a little too short.
