Hawaii

So our contract ended in Korea and we made our way to Hawaii for 12 days. We left Korea at 7:45pm on a Tuesday. Our flight was 10ish hours with a layover and we got to Hawaii at 11 in the morning that same Tuesday. Needless to say, our time clock was a little disoriented.

The first week we stayed at a vacation home in Kailua, with most of the Sawatzky clan, minus 1 family (we missed you Carrie, Braden and Lucy). It was so nice to see our Saskatchewan family and what better place than in Hawaii. We got to meet our little nephew, Zavi, for the first time and it was fun seeing our other nephew and nieces and how big they are now. We spent a lot of time at the beach. Some highlights included: boogie boarding on Kailua beach, snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, hiking and whale watching on the Makapuu lighthouse trail, and eating pineapple ice cream at the Dole plantation. We also enjoyed a couple delicious shrimp meals! It was a beautiful location, a great time and wonderful company!

Our next five days were spent on our own, near downtown Honolulu, at the Ala Moana Hotel. We enjoyed checking out the famous Waikiki beach, going out for coconut pancakes, spending some time at the beach inside the Hilton Hawaiian Village, having afternoon naps and relaxing by the pool and watching movies as we fell asleep in our comfy hotel room. Our last day we walked around downtown Honolulu and saw the Missionary Houses Museum, the King Kamehameha Statue, the Iolani Palace and the Aloha Tower. It was so nice being in Hawaii, but we were also quite excited to get home. Most vacations go by way too fast, but this one seemed to be just right. We are looking forward to re-entering Canadian life and our relationships here.
